Prep and Aftercare
Both pre- and aftercare are vital for achieving the desired results from your permanent makeup procedure. They not only enhance the outcome but also contribute to your overall experience and satisfaction. Always consult your artist for tailored advice to ensure the best possible results.
How to prepare for your appointment
Follow the pre-care instructions below for your permanent makeup procedure:
-
Consultation: If desired, schedule a consultation with your technician to discuss your goals, preferences, and any concerns. Virtual consults are complimentary. In-person consults are $50.
-
Avoid Blood Thinners: Refrain from taking blood-thinning medications or supplements (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil) for at least 48 hours prior to the procedure.
-
Alcohol and Caffeine: Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours before the procedure, as they can increase sensitivity and bleeding.
-
Skin Care: Avoid retinoids, glycolic acid, and exfoliating treatments for a week prior to your appointment to prevent skin irritation.
-
Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure and tanning for at least a week before the procedure to reduce the risk of skin damage. If there is skin burn, the appointment must be rescheduled 48 hours in advance.
-
Hydration: Stay well-hydrated the week leading up to your appointment to promote optimal healing.
-
Allergies: Inform your artist about any allergies, especially to pigments, numbing agents, or latex.
-
Makeup: Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup, especially around the area being treated.
-
Health Conditions: Discuss any medical conditions, recent major surgeries, and/or medications you’re taking that might affect the procedure.
-
Follow Instructions: Follow any specific instructions provided by your artist for your particular procedure.
